ABA Therapy

In school settings, there is often a need for behavior management and behavior modification programs to address challenging behaviors that may pose disruptions throughout the school day. Applied Behavior Analysis is a scientific-based practice where a Behavior Specialists develops an individualized treatment plan to address goals across communication, social, academic, and behavioral domains. Our trained ABA therapists work with children to deliver evidence-based therapy and interventions.

Speech Therapy

Speech therapy is concerned with issues surrounding human speech and language communication disorders. POSS providers assess speech, language, cognitive-communication, and oral, feeding, and swallowing skills to identify types of communication problems and the best way to treat them.

School-Based Counseling

Some children experience significant emotional or behavioral difficulties in the school. School-based services enable our clinicians, your child’s teachers, and other support staff to communicate directly and effectively to coordinate care. POSS clinicians work closely with your child’s school to maximize the benefits from counseling. Many families have difficulties attending a traditional outpatient clinic. This service enables children to receive counseling directly in the school they attend each day.

School-Based Assessments

Psychological

Our Psychological evaluations are comprehensive assessments that measure cognitive capabilities, adaptive, social/emotional development of children for the purpose of determining students’ functional level and developing recommendations and/or placement. (Functional behavioral assessments are also available).

Educational

Our Educational Evaluations utilize standardized assessments, observations, conferences with instructional staff, and various assessment techniques for the purpose of understanding the students in terms of academic performance and learning characteristics in order to identify and diagnose learning strengths and difficulties which manifest themselves in the school setting.

Social

Our Social Evaluations include a complete social history of the student, assessing developmental history, the status of the student’s social and academic adjustment in terms of school performance, family and personal history, socio-economic and cultural influences, and community factors.

Speech & Language

Our Speech and Language evaluations assess, analyze, and diagnose students’ communication competencies and characteristics to accurately identify disorders of language, articulation, hearing, fluency, voice, feeding, swallowing, and related disabilities.

Functional Behavior Assessment

Our Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) are conducted for the purpose of determining the function of students’ behaviors that are interfering with their learning and the learning of others in order to develop effective interventions for identified areas of concern.

Bilingual Evaluation Services

“Each evaluation of the student shall be conducted in the language or form most likely to yield accurate information on what the child knows and can do academically, developmentally and functionally (NJAC 6A:14-3-4).” POSS recognizes the necessity in having students evaluated in their native language and therefore, offers bilingual evaluation services as well.
